The ideas behind advertising campaigns are developed by a creative team, most often through an advertising agency. After that, there's the casting, finding the right location... By the time the actual shoot comes around and you've taken into account the small details like the required space for the various layouts in all the different media, or making sure the areas where the graphic design and copy go are not too dark or bright (so these details can stand out), it can be hard to remember that you're there to deliver the image that will best realise the concept. This is where pre-production is so important. If it's done right, you'll have no trouble finding the time to concentrate on the creative part on the shoot day.
